Chinedu Felix Osuchukwu

Born to Nigerian immigrant parents, Master artist and instructor Chinedu Felix Osuchukwu spent his early years between his birthplace, Washington, DC, and Nigeria. A DC native, Osuchukwu graduated from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, received his BFA from Corcoran College of Art and Design, and completed his MFA at the Maryland Institute College of the Arts (MICA). His work blends Igbo and American cultures and has been featured in museums and collections worldwide, including the Biggs Museum of American Art, Studio Museum of Harlem, DuSable Museum, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and in the book Fired Up And Ready to Go ( Works in the Collections of Peggy Cooper Cafritz) . In 2021, he was featured as an artist in the Netflix film Really Love.

Osuchukwu’s studios are based at the Jackson Art Center in Georgetown, and his home in Ward 7, where his work ranges from sculpture, painting, printmaking, and live performance. His prominent works have been funded by Murals DC, commissioned by Kaboom and Michelle Obama, and the DC Commission of Arts and Humanities just to name a few. He is a mayor arts award winning educator who has taught visual art in DC-area schools for over 20 years and collaborates with organizations like LAYC, Martha’s Table, Sitar, The Phillips Collection, National Bleeding Disorder Foundation (Formerly as NHF), and the Smithsonian American Art Museum (where he is a museum art educator). In 2023, he became the Ambassador of Arts and Culture in Abuja, Nigeria, Humanities DC Mayoral Appointee and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joe Biden for his work in the arts and education.
