Saoirse Headshot

Lo Yu (Saoirse) Chou

Art Therapy Intern

Saoirse is a first-year graduate student at George Washington University pursuing her Master’s degree in Art Therapy. Originally from Taiwan, she earned both her BA and MA in Journalism from the National Defense University, where she built a strong foundation in observation, analysis, and communication. She began her career in the military, providing psychological support and guidance to service members in high-pressure environments.

These experiences heightened her awareness of the importance of non-verbal healing and inspired her path toward art therapy.

Saoirse believes in art therapy’s power to support trauma recovery, resilience, and connection. She has volunteered with Taiwan Lifeline, worked with children, trained in art therapy, and engaged in community art projects.

Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Saoirse enjoys exploring many forms of art, including collage, acrylic painting, and ceramics. She also finds balance through meditation, writing, and spending time in nature, and she looks forward to continuing her growth and contributions during her internship with Project Create.
