Genesis Johnson

Genesis has come to call the city of DC home for the last 7 years as a professional working artist. She is an active member of the community in the Deanwood neighborhood and volunteers weekly at the gardens near her home.

In 2019 Genesis debuted her first installation through DOT’s Beauty Salon immersive art show at the Hirshhorn Museum. Since then, she has continued to be part of many group shows around the DMV and has had the honor of being a 2020 Washington Project of the Arts Grant recipient, 2022 Spotlight Artist for the Artists’ Table film grant, a 2023 Favorite Chef Finalist, and a DC Arts and Humanities Fellow for the last 3 years.

Genesis has always been passionate about art education programs. She currently partners with Project create to teach immersive visual arts classes around the city to D.C. youths.
