Gizachew “Giz” Andargeh

Gizachew “Giz” Andargeh, Vice Chairperson, is the Executive Director of the DC Real Property Tax Appeals Commission. In this role he oversees the efficient hearing and processing of second level tax assessment appeals for District of Columbia property owners. Previously, Giz worked in the Office of the Director at the District Department of Transportation providing policy recommendations that increase transportation efficiency and create safe public spaces. He was formerly the International Business Manager at the DC Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development where he scaled business growth and urban development initiatives. He also served as the Export Manager in the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development. He began his career in District government as a Neighborhood Planner in the DC Office of Planning. Gizachew earned his Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and his Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia.
