Melissa Muttiah

Family Programs Manager & Art Therapist, ATR

For the last twenty years, Melissa Muttiah has worked in the DC-metro area in youth development serving in a variety of roles including teacher, education coordinator, mentor, artist, and art therapist. She joined Project Create in 2014 as an art therapy intern and later became a contracted teaching artist and art therapist. In 2022, she joined the staff full-time and serves as the Family Programs Manager and Art Therapist. She oversees the Family Art Day workshops and the HeArt Space art therapy program. Melissa believes in the therapeutic and transformative power of artistic expression and endorses the process over the product. She finds that the process of creating art gives voice to feelings and experiences, brings insight and perspective, and promotes change. She hopes to share her passion for healing arts to enrich and empower people of all ages.
