Tim Schwartz
Board Member
Tim brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from the worlds of education and creativity. He has been a Montessori Lower and Upper Elementary (grades 1-3 and 4-6) teacher in the Washington, DC area since 2001. A New Yorker from birth, Tim grew up in a family of artists and jazz producers before attending an independent performing arts high school in Manhattan. His love of theater production and tech design began then, blossomed in college, and has continued in his teaching life. Tim has a B.A. in Creative Writing with a focus on Poetry and minors in Literature, Philosophy, and Religious Studies, and a M.A.ED. in Montessori Studies. Tim has presented a number of workshops at national Montessori Conferences on a range of topics: including poetry, woodworking, ecology, peacemaking, jazz, blues, and hip hop. A published poet, he is also an avid record collector, maker, carpenter, and scientist. A proud and active Hillcrest resident since 2010, he enjoys biking, soccer, and going on adventures with his wife, Katie, and their teenage child, Bea, accomplished artists and crafters in their own right.
